At Livingston Community Shed, our projects are all about getting stuck in, learning by doing, and giving something back to the community. From building sheds and workshops to improving outdoor spaces and supporting local organisations, everything we do is driven by teamwork, shared skills, and pride in a job well done. Our projects vary in size and scope, but they all have one thing in common: they bring people together and create something useful for others to enjoy.
Alongside hands-on projects, we take part in training and community activities, including first aid certification, talks, and local radio features. These moments are an important part of Shed life; building confidence, knowledge, and connections beyond the workshop.

We’re currently developing our new headquarters in Carmondean, including the construction of workshops, studio spaces, and outdoor areas. This ongoing project has involved ground clearing, levelling, building sheds, and creating paths and patio spaces to support future activities.
Over the years, we’ve built and improved a number of sheds and workspaces, including timber sheds and workshop areas. While not every build survives the Scottish weather, each project helps us learn, adapt, and improve our skills for the next one.
In spring 2024, we were invited to support a local school by erecting a polytunnel within the campus grounds. The tunnel allows pupils to grow edible plants and learn more about food, nature, and sustainability; a project we were proud to be part of.
We regularly help maintain and improve community gardens and outdoor areas across Livingston. This includes clearing ground, preparing planting areas, maintaining paths, and supporting local green spaces so they can be enjoyed by everyone.
