Mosswood benches
Livingston Community Shed was started in 2022 to give people aged 18 and over a place to socialise, meet new friends, share experiences and contribute to the communities within Livingston.

We are a member organisation of the Scottish Men’s Shed Association, and our aim is to improve mental well-being, reduce isolation and improve the health of our members.

We have members from various backgrounds, life experience and skills.

We meet each Monday and Friday morning (10am) at The Barn Community Cafe, Carmondean Community Centre, Nether Dechmont, Deans, Livingston EH54 8AX
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, you can find us in the garden behind the South barn, opposite the (closed café

We are a friendly bunch with hearts in our communities, so come and meet us!

We tackle many and various community projects, including the upkeep of community gardens, furniture  repair and refurbishment, including benches.

We also have a keen photographic group, working with West Lothian College.

Some of our more green fingered members have offered their services to assist in tidying some other less neglected public gardens in the town whilst others are into woodworking with the shed's lathe, table saws, bench drill, sanders, etc.

We have a wide variety of equipment and expertise to use and train on the various tools available.

Too many "We"'s.  Need another way to write the sentences.

Our first project brief was to produce an outdoor chess and draughts set for the community centre.

Storage is at a premium, so the pieces couldn’t be 3D

We settled on a ‘pocket chess’ design of flat disks but large!

We obtained 40 barrel ends from a local cooperage and turned them from this:

Culminating in the chess board at
